The following is included in a typical ink refill kit: ink bottles, syringes and detailed instructions. Some kits include an air balance clip for balancing the air inside the cartridge to ensure proper ink flow. Some kits also include hand-drill tool to make a hole in the top of your empty cartridge.
Refilling Process.
1. To start the refilling process, fill the syringe with one of the ink colors over the sink or several sheets of scrap paper to prevent any mess. Different printers hold different amounts of ink. In most Epson printers, the black cartridge holds approximately 30 ml and the color cartridges hold approximately 30 ml. See the instructions with your refill kit to see how much ink your cartridges can hold.
2. Before inserting the needle, make a small hole in the top of the cartridge (one for each color chamber). The hole is at the top of the cartridge near the label. Simply push the needle through the hole and press to the bottom of the cartridge towards the outlet hole. It’s important to fill the cartridge slowly so as to avoid the ink from foaming and introducing air in the chamber.
3. You do not need to seal the refill holes since there are already breather holes on the top of the cartridge.
4. Any unused ink can be put back in the bottle. You should clean the syringe with water and dry it properly to do the same process for the other cartridges or for future use. You can also label each syringe for the different colors so that each syringe is only used with one color.
5. Once you place the cartridge back in the printer, run the cleaning cycle 1 to 3 times. If there are any gaps in the printing, run the cleaning cycle again.
Don’t Forget. There are a few things to remember when refilling your cartridge. It should be refilled before the cartridge is completely empty to avoid the chamber from drying out and clogging. Also, it is a good idea to let the printer cartridge sit for a few hours (or overnight) so that the pressure in the cartridge will stabilize.
Some printers, like newer Epson models, have a green chip on their ink cartridges which is visible by looking at your cartridge. They are often referred to as “Intellidge” cartridges. The chip keeps track of how often the cartridge is used and lets the computer know when the cartridge may be low or empty. As long as you reset the chip, refilling the cartridge with ink from a refill kit will not be a problem. A resetting tool can be used to reset the memory on the chip. This allows the printer to recognize the cartridge as being full which makes printing with a refilled cartridge possible.
Refilling your own ink cartridge is easy, good for the environment, and very good price of $9.99 for your pocket.

Important tips for Refill kits.
There are many tips available throughout the internet and some may work, some may not. Here we 123inkcartridges.ca collected some tips when you are refilling the ink cartridges.
Never try to refill a cartridge while it is still in the printer.
1.Try to refill your cartridges as soon as they are empty and even better yet before they are completely empty.
2.Make sure your cartridge is NOT leaking when you re-install it in your printer. If the cartridge is leaking leave it sitting on a paper towel or newspaper for a time until it stops leaking. Usually cartridges will leak if they have been overfilled.
3.Clean out syringes with water between colors to decrease contamination.
4.Never touch the heads on cartridges that have them.
5.Always run the printers head cleaning routine a few times after installing your newly refilled cartridge.
6. Keep the tops on the ink bottles at all times. Don’t put them in a precarious position where they can be tipped or knocked over. Very Messy Situation.
7. Hewlett Packard cartridges generally need to have the internal pressure equalized before they will print properly. An inflation bottle is used to inject air into the bladder or in the case of the 51645A type you should squeeze the cartridge before installing the ball seal.
8.Refill cartridges right away before they have a chance to dry out or tape the heads or openings with scotch tape and seal them in an airtight environment like a baggie.
9.Follow the instructions supplied with the refill kits to the letter. There are many ways, usually, to refill the same cartridge, but until you become familiar with the different procedures you should always follow the instructions that came with your kit.
10.When refilling a three color cartridge there is a chance that you can have the cartridge turned the wrong way and get the colors mixed up. If this happens there is not much hope of repairing it. Try using toothpicks to push into the refill holes and sample the colors that belong in the chamber. That way there is less of a chance that you will put the wrong ink into a chamber.
11.HP cartridges dry out almost immediately if left exposed to the air. To unclog a dried out HP cartridge you can try soaking the print head in warm water for a few minutes. In extreme conditions a 50% x 50% solution of 98% isopropyl alcohol and water brought JUST to the boiling point for about 5 minutes may do the trick.
12.Some Epson cartridges will develop a “vapor lock” after refilling. You can try to defeat the vapor lock by grasping the cartridge with the opening facing away from you and quickly snapping your arm towards the floor like you were trying to throw it through the floor. Don’t let go of the cartridge though and make VERY sure you have something down. It WILL discharge ink when this is done. Do it outside if you can.
We 123inkcartridges.ca also provide kinds of refill kits, such as universal refill kits and all the other refill kits.

Genaral Trouble shooting of Refill kits.
Have problem with your cartridges after refilling? We 123inkcartridges.ca are providing you a general trouble shooting for your Refill kits.
What should I do if the printer does not print after refilling the cartridge?
1. Step 1: Run the print-head cleaning mechanism (described in your inkjet printer’s manual) and attempt to
print a few pages.
2. Step 2: If this procedure does not work, using the syringe supplied in your refill kit, inject air into the
top air vent to clean the nozzles. A small amount of ink should be emitted from the nozzles upon injection. (The nozzle is the porous metal piece at the bottom of the cartridge)
3. Step 3: If this procedure does not work your print-head nozzles are probably blocked with dried ink. At
this point use the syringe to take out as much ink as possible from your cartridge and read on to the next section.
What should I do if my print quality is poor after refilling?
Just follow these 4 simple steps:
1. Step 1: Using a soft tissue or cotton swab clean any ink from the nozzles.
2. Step 2: Reinstall the cartridge, run the print-head cleaning mechanism (described in your printer’s manual)
and attempt to print again.
3. Step 3: Poor print quality may also be a sign of overfilling your inkjet cartridge. If this is the case,
use the syringe to take out the extra ink and attempt to print again.
4. Step 4: If it still does not print properly, you might have some air left in your cartridge. Using the
syringe, take the air from your cartridge, run the print-head cleaning mechanism (described in your printer’s
manual) and attempt to print again.
What should I do if the printer will not recognize the cartridge after refilling?
1 Turn on the printer and remove both cartridges
2 Place both cartridges in front of you so that you can see the contact foil, with the nozzles facing
downwards
3 With adhesive tape, cover the FOUR upper contact points on the far left contact column of both cartridges
4 Reinsert the two cartridges and close the cover
5 Open the cover again after 2 or 3 seconds
6 Wait until the printer gives you the cartridge carriage (If there seems to be a problem with either of the
cartridges, ignore it)
7 Open the cover and remove the two cartridges
8 Place both cartridges in front of you so that you can see the contact foil, with the nozzles facing
downwards
9 Remove the adhesive tape
10 Clean the contacts, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover.
