compatible ink cartridges

Compatible Ink Cartridges

The most common way to save your printing cost, is to use the compatible ink cartridges (aka third party or refilled ink cartridges), so what does a compatible cartridges means? Just like what the name has mentioned, a compatible cartridges is made by the third party brand rather than the original one, since the cartridges are mostly redesigned or refilled to ensure greater compatibility between different printer models, the overall cost for this type of cartridges is much cheaper because 1) it does not made from the genuine company which requires huge investment on heavy advertising 2) it offers wider range of compatibility so it can support many printer model rather just one 3) the compatible cartridges most have larger ink volume than the OEM one because it’s actually an improved version (still a myth and have dispute for many years), many original brand has recommended to go with original cartridges because they believe the use of duplicate or refilled cartridges will cause permanent or irreversible damage to the printers, however, such facts have already proved as irrelevant, and that is why today there are many customers choose using compatible ink cartridges as their printing source and why there were many compatible ink toner cartridges existed in the market. Understanding Ink Cartridge Terminology and Inkjet Definition

For the one who has been looking through Google for the common terminology or definition for  the ink cartridges, we hope that this blog will be helpful for you, if you got any question or concern regarding to ink cartridges in general, you can always submit your question in the comment and I would be more happy to provide you with detail information, please check the following to understand more about common ink cartridges term:

ink cartridges chip

ink cartridges chip

Chip for ink cartridges

The chip for the cartridges is basically a small electrical patch which attached into your ink cartridge, the purpose for having such chip is to maintain interaction between the printer to the cartridge itself, with the implementation of chip, the printer can store information such as how much ink level you have, how many pages you print or which type of ink cartridges that you are using. Generally, not all the inkjet cartridges have chips, it really depend on the printer model number, sometimes, you will find the compatible/remanufacture no chip ink cartridges, you will have to remove the chip from your OEM cartridges and replace that into your no chip ink cartridges.

Ink Cartridges Clip

Very easy to understand, the clip simply means the plastic part that located in the front of the nozzle, the purpose for having this little plastic clip is to protect the contacts of nozzle plate, which uses to prevent ink leaking or ink damages during the process of transportation, you will have to remove that before installing into your machine.

Compatible ink cartridges

A compatible cartridges is made by the third party company, which made entirely new design and will be compatible to the OEM printer, in most of the case, the compatible ink cartridges usually support more than one printer model, and with the features which is pretty much resemble to both internal and extrernal compared to the OEM ink cartridges, for that reason, the compatible ink cartridges price is much cheaper comparing to OEM ink cartridges brand.

HP ink cartridges contact

HP ink cartridges contact

Ink cartridges contacts

The contacts is a cooper circuit squares that send the signal to the printer, you should avoid directly contact to this cooper connector by your hand

Cradle (Carriage)

the ink cartridges cradle or carriage is pretty much the place where your inkjet cartridges needs to be installed, this device will hold the ink cartridges itself and moving horizontally while in the process of printing for creating the image that you would like to print

cyan, megenta and yellow color

cyan, megenta and yellow color

Cyan Magenta and Yellow

Both are the three main colors which needs to be installed for producing the complicated variety of color, each of the unique color means light blue, Red as well as the yellow.

Dye Based ink

This type of cartridges are mostly found in the color cartridges categories, but they are some situation where black cartridge is also made by dye based such as like photo black or photo color, this type of cartridges are not water resistant , and is easier to fade away.

Foam based

Every cartridge must contain a foam inside the cartridges cover itself, it can be only one or multiple location where the ink flew, the purpose for foam is to hold the ink storage as a sponge so the ink won’t flow everywhere, the sponge will also adequately ejecting the ink whenever that it need to make sure that the ink will be available for the printing.

IntegratedPrinthead

IntegratedPrinthead

Integrated Cartridge

A integrated ink cartridges usually have a print head, which is a electric flexible ribbon which connect between the printer and the cartridges itself

Non-Integrated Cartridge

A non intergrated cartridges is the one which has not have the print head, because the print head has already built in with the printer, most of the case this type of printhead will not be able to replace, I believe that this type of ink cartridges also refer to ink tank.

Print head

Also name nozzle plate, it’s the small tiny holes and stamp like feature which allow the ink to eject for printing the image or text through the connection between the chip to the printer.

OEM ink cartridges

OEM ink cartridges

OEM ink cartridges

The OEM represents the Original Equipment Manufacture, which means mean the ink cartridges or the product are made by the main company, for example, HP will only uses its own HP OEM cartridges and so does others.

Photo black PBK ink cartridges

The type of cartridges will creat the lighter shade of black color, which will create and combine a combination of different layer-like color, which will create a vivid color, most of the photo printer will require the uses of PBK cartridges

Pigment based ink cartridges

On the contrary to the Dye based ink cartridges, pigment base ink cartridges are water and light resistant, however, they will not have able to come out with many shades so the color matching for the OEM is not easy, and since the color can residue better and longer, pigment based ink usually have a higher cost compared to the Dye based one.

Value Pack ink cartridges

You might see this very common when you browsing the online store site, the value pack simply means a set of cartridges with different color or same color but double up the amount, for example you can have a Brother LC 61 B/C/M/Y as a value pack and it reduces your overall cost if you buy it individually.

Tri color

The tri color which means the three original color that it uses to print out the images, these colors are Cyan, Magenta and yellow, sometimes from the photo printer model, you will have the Photo Cyan, photo Magenta as well as the Photo Yellow depend on which printer model that you had.

Most Common Ink Cartridges Problem

Most common problem for ink cartridges

Most common problem for ink cartridges

It’s normal for you guys to have question regard to ink cartridges, that is the main reason that you browse on Google with the keyword such as what does it mean empty cartridges?”, “what are the differences between OEM and compatible ink cartridges?” “How many page that the cartridges can print?”…etc, we received such question very frequently on the daily basis, so today in our blog I am going to go over with you what are the common ink cartridges questions asked from our 123ink fans, feel free to submit your feedbacks at the following comments.

Why does my printer say cartridge is empty?

This could either be a simplistic or complicated question depend what the situation is, normally, the printer will only show the empty message when your cartridges has a low ink or empty level, which is completely normal, the chip inside the cartridges will send a notification whenever you need to change a new cartridges, most of the case, the cartridges will still work, so you can pretty much ignore the warning message until your ink is completely empty. Many people do have question regard to our compatible ink model whether it will print as much as the OEM one, the answer is positive, since most cases our compatible ink cartridges will have larger volume of ink level, the larger volume of ink implicate that you will be able to print more pages, for our compatible ink cartridges section, feel free to check here >>.

Will a compatible cartridge void my printer warranty?

Absolutely not, there is nothing that you need to worry about for the voiding of the printer warranty, in fact, it is illegal from a printer manufacture to obligate you to purchase the specific brand ink cartridges or printer supplier unless you are signing a big contract with the OEM company who supplies your printer facilities, you can refer this example as car dealer will not have the right to obligate you to purchase OEM parts to have your car fixed or maintenance, that is not reasonable, unless the original equipment manufacturer company have the absolute prove that our compatible cartridges as well as the remanufacture cartridges, will damage the printer in overall speaking, so by mean the OEM companies will not void your warranty, the purchase for having such phrase is just simply to scared the customers so they will only replied on their high price ink cartridges.

How do I know when the cartridge is truly low on ink?

This is a simple and logical question to answer, as long as you see the color of the printer are becoming darker, or the quality of cartridges start to appear as light color, half print, streaking or even no color just lines, then it’s an indication for showing that you will need to change the cartridges, if your ink cartridges have chips on it, then a message will pop up from the screen and telling you that when you should replace your ink cartridges, it is not 100% accurate, but it’s basically an approximation.

Is the compatible or remanufacture cartridges worse than OEM cartridges?

There is nothing worse or cartridges no matter if is a OEM one or the remanufacture/compatible brand, in most case, each cartridges should be tested strictly by the manufacture, and the inks should be specialized design for each cartridges, all the process from cleaning to refilling, will be process accurately, and the cartridges that should be print tested by the manufacture to ensure that everything will be correct and no bad color will be appeared.

What is the difference between compatible and remanufactured cartridge?

I wrote an article refer to that previous and you can click this link for the detail. Generally, there is really not much differences between the remanufacture and the compatible ink cartridges, since both are them are either re-design or refill depend on the brands, and both are non-genuine products so you might find it the price is much more cheaper than the OEM one.

How do I know which cartridges model should I use for my printer?

You can always use our search function to find out what cartridges that you are using for the printer, just simply type the printer model and then you will be able to find out their compatible ink cartridges, you can also search through our cartridges list too. Please let us know if you have further question.

What Is a Compatible Toner Cartridge? What Are We Looking For?

Everyone must know that a toner cartridges is more than simply a container of ink which used for support the circulation of ink so you will be able print your document fluently, however, not all of the people can recognize the differences by telling what is a compatible toner cartridges? OEM toner cartridges or remanufacture toner cartridges. Mostly, for the both compatible toner cartridges as well as the remanufacture one, we all often refer it as third party toner cartridges, which is quite obvious because those are not made by the original manufacture company, so now this is where the dispute come from, since most of the compatible toner cartridges support multiple printer models with the same type of cartridges, this has become an advantage point in which the consumers might save a lot of cost by actually using one toner for many without even bother going to the local stores.

compatible toner cartridges

compatible toner cartridges

By taking perspective from the OEM companies, this is a huge profit lost because the arising compatible cartridges sales inside the market , so basically what they are trying to do is, they will try every method to stop the compatible or remanufacture toner cartridges market by giving negative impressions, which is very understandable, in addition, big brands always have contracts with the local distribution so that is another reason you will never seen big company like best buy or futureshop selling compatible toner cartridges, that is not gonna happening tho, in my opinion, I do not believe the concept of toner cartridges monopoly, in fact, I would rather choose to stay with the consumer side,  the multiple competition between markets will only ensure the consumers like us enjoy with benefits, the more variety type printer cartridges we have in the market, the better quality as well as pricing that we are going to get eventually.

But the reality is always disappoint, we are only here to allow the big company to change their prices no matter how much the price is, from them, we are limited or literary being forced to use certain type of toner cartridges, even under the same brand but different printer models, we will have to obligate by using their so called generic toner cartridges even we knew that the material inside is exactly the same components, the company can just change design, flip around and make a new model year by year, change chips which promptly to notify you when should you change your toner cartridges even your cartridges ink level is not actually finished yet, and the worse, to discontinue the toner cartridges production in a few years so you will have no choice but to buy a brand new printer and use a brand new toner cartridges for doubling up the profit, thankfully, the existence of compatible cartridges have break through all the rules by offering choices, from now you can use one toner model for many printers under same brand, you save the plastic usage during the process of production at the same time more eco friendly because some compatible/remanufacture toner cartridges are actually uses the cartridges case cover which designed by OEM and they just refill it, so it made life become easier, and the most important thing, you save a lot of money that you could ever imagine.

differences between OEM, compatible and remanufacture cartridges

differences between OEM, compatible and remanufacture cartridges

In addition to the printing quality as well as compability, I have personally seen so many videos and articles talk about the leaking and printing problem for the OEM brands, so I guess this is not really depend what type of toner cartridges that you are using but rather, how do you use them before causing trouble, this is a very important point to know because, as you may know that, the chip and powder inside thetoner cartridges could be somehow problematic, it can be damaged because the infrastructure of printer, weather condition, method of transportation, hardware, software and even how much capacity that your printer was printing, so for me there is no much absolute argument to prove that whether OEM toner cartridges or compatible toner cartridges is better, this is perhaps a personal choice depend to what you are really looking for.

Top 10 Cheapest Ink Cartridges For Your Printer Choices!

Today in our blog topic, I am going to introduce you some tips how you looking for cheaper ink cartridges or the best price printer deals online, the concept was quite easy and simple, the only thing that you need to stick with is the AFTER COST, of course I did not just mean the exact price tag where you see at the store, also, the extra value that you will have to spend in the long term, which is pretty obvious, the cost of the ink cartridges will be perhaps the most important key aspect that you should have known it before purchasing your printer. Since the inkjet printers are still the majority for most of the consumers, so today I am just gonna merely talk about the ink cartridges parts.

As I have mentioned, in order to help you to save money, the best way is to have the idea in mind that which ink cartridges are the cheapest or the least expensive cartridges, since the printer without cartridges is pretty like a fish live without water, so having a cheaper cost ink cartridges will definitely lower your overall printing cost. To choosing an appropriate cartridges before purchasing your printer could be troublesome, it’s too much variation, for me, I mostly concern about how much page that I can actually print, how many printer models that the cartridges could be compatible with, whether it is OEM (original manufacture) or the compatible cartridges (AKA remanufacture), as my preference, I always choose the compatible remanufacture cartridges because it has the least cost, and sometimes, it has more ink volume which allows you to print few more pages, I found this phenomenon quite bizarre, maybe it can be personal. Many people might quote that the usage of OEM cartridges are more stable, safer and less trouble, I really don’t agree with this idea since I have heard many cases regard to how people got their OEM ink cartridges messed up with their printer because the facts how people actually preserve the cartridges, this is a huge debate (OEM V.S. Compatible) over the internet which I don’t agree nor disagree, but in my experience I used compatible cartridges for most of the time without any problem, it saves me huge money and I am happy about it. Most of the time, I will go over the TOP 1 cheapest cartridges and research all the compatible printer models which fits my needs, this table could also use it as an indicator which ink cartridges that you will go with if your printer is fully compatible with more than one type of ink cartridges, I hope that this article helps. Let me know what you guys think and I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013 !
