Inkjet Printer Troubleshooting I

“NOT AGAIN!” – Often out of whom has trouble about the printing of their printer.

“CALM DOWN” – Seems to be the first essential step to solve the problem and get it back to work.

Do not panic, It may be just a simple action to ease your nerve, especially if you know some basic knowledge about how your printer works. Otherwise, even quite a minor glitch can result in endless headaches.

Here, we offered some useful tips:

1. Connection Loss

If you pressed “Start Printing”, but nothing responds in both your printer and computer. You probably encounter a problem due to broken Connection between printer and your computer. Thus, you need to double check that all cables are connected properly and make sure that the printer is turned on. If everything is linked properly and powered up, please go to the computer’s “Control Panel” from the “START” menu. Click on “Printers” to make sure that your printer is selected as the default.

For further check, you may right click on your printer icon and select “Properties”, try to find the information relevant to “Details” or “Port” tab and check the correct port. Next, you may need to cancel the unsuccessful tasks manually. Please double click on the “Printer” icon, which will display a list of current jobs in the print queue. Cancel all documents and try printing again. If your printer is attached by USB port, you may try connecting to other USB ports.

2. Prints Garbage

Your printer sometimes may print out pages filled with all strange computer characters, symbols, or strange formatting, which probably means your inkjet printer’s drivers are required to be updated, due to incompatible with your operating system or corrupt. Drivers is essential for normal function of your inkjet printer, thus periodical updates should be executed from printer’s official website.

3. Prints Streaks

If your inkjet printer suddenly gives out one or several pages with some black or color streaks, that could be because of one of the following problems:

  • Poor Alignment: If your inkjet printer’s heads are out of alignment, streaking prints may occur. Accordingly, you should try to use the alignment tool included in your printer’s control panel.
  • Dirty Printer: Periodical maintainence or cleaning is always recommended for your newly purchased printer, in order to keep the printer away from trouble, such as streaking prints. If the ink streaks appear along the edges of page, ink may be sticked on the rollers or other parts of your printer. Thus, cleaning would be required. How  to clean? Generally, most inkjet printer manuals will explain how to clean your device. If you lost the cleaning instructions, simply wipe any contaminated parts with a dry, lint-free cloth.
